Early Supplier Involvement

Product Development

Developing a quality prototype is one of the most important steps in manufacturing a part. Not only does it allow the engineering team to test the functionality and usefulness of the part, but it also helps show its mechanical feasibility. Because of this, JDI integrates itself early in the prototype development stage of a component so that we are able to assist in perfecting the design of both the part and the mold used to make it. Our clients often appreciate the recommendations that we are able to provide as we collaborate to improve upon the cost and manufacturability of each part.

Prototyping

Once the design of the initial prototype is complete, we offer 3D printing services to produce a completed part at a low cost prior to building an actual mold. A large benefit of this capability is providing customers with an opportunity to find potential issues with their prototype prior to jumping to the next steps of the molding process. Our service offers a quick turnaround time and material flexibility to produce a near-identical part to one that would be ejected from a molding machine. Occasionally, it may still be best to build a prototype mold initially prior to building a production tool.

Lifetime Support

In addition to the design of each part, our team will continue to provide support throughout the lifetime of each product. We focus on process development beginning at procurement of all required materials to delivery of the finished part and even include in-house tool maintenance and repair as a testament to our machines and operators. Ultimately, our goal is to complete the manufacturing process in the most efficient manner possible, therefore reducing the cost and the level of effort required by our customers.
